Vanilla lime cream – soft and simple
The recipe for this vanilla lime cream is inspired by a visit to our favorite cafe (which also inspired us to create this lavender lemonade recipe). Visiting a cafe can really spark some new great ideas! ๐
We ordered a cake with a lime cream as an intermediate layer there, which was extremely delicious. I immediately thought about which ingredients were used to make that. Luckily, there were a few ingredients on the menu: Mascarpone and cream. I remembered one dessert I made a long time ago that originally had mascarpone in it, but since I didn’t have mascarpone at that moment, I used yogurt instead. The result back then was very tasty, so why wouldn’t I try to substitute it here aswell?
You can probably already guess where this is going. This lime cream absolutely had to be reinterpreted at home, of course. Instead of mascarpone I used greek yogurt together with whipped cream. And since I thought that lime on its own would be a bit unspectacular, I added some vanilla flavors to it. We also took some vanilla wafer rolls and used the vanilla lime cream as a sweet dip. We can only recommend you to try this!
You can also prepare the vanilla-lime cream as a layered dessert in a glass. We could imagine that a layer with fresh strawberries would fit well, maybe even with some pieces of white chocolate in the cream. If you like, you can also add a layer of cookies. This recipe invites you to experiment and let your ideas run wild. You could also use this cream as a cake cream, just like in the cafe.
Just give it a try and enjoy the refreshing taste of limes and the delicious flavors of vanilla. Get to the spoons and bon appetite!

Notes

- Please only use the zest of organic limes.
- The dessert can also be layered in the glass. For example, you could try amaretti cookies or oatmeal cookie pieces.
