Mai Tai with Passionfruit
With this cocktail we have something with a real tropical and exotic taste for you: a Mai Tai with passion fruit (or Mai Tai meets passionfruit) and Falernum.
This cocktail is a really well-balanced. Even though quite a lot of alcohol is part of this drink, it tastes really good.
If you’ve read this far, we know exactly what you’re thinking. You are probably thinking: Yes, it sounds delicious, but what exactly is falernum?
Justified question…we didn’t know this ourselves for quite a long time, to be honest. There is Falernum syrup without alcohol (this is the one we used, we like to use syrups from Monin) but there is also Falernum as a liqueur. Falernum is a mixture of different flavors like lime, almond, clove, ginger, vanilla or even allspice. This mixture is said to come from the Caribbean islands.
We have already tried the syrup in various cocktails (for example here in our Mai Tai with passionfruit or in the exotic Moscow Mule) and must admit, that adding falernum syrup adds a very unique flavor to the classi drink. Tropical feeling is almost guaranteed.
We can only recommend it. Give it a try and enjoy it!
